“One can dream of something more terrible than a hell where one suffers; it's a hell where one would get bored.”

~ Victor Hugo

From my script for The Sewer King:

"At first she was not by any means difficult to live with. She kept to herself and to her routines – early to bed and early to rise. I witnessed the very moods she had warned me of. For two weeks she lay in a state of undress upon the sofa and barely moved, let alone spoke, quietly sucking on her pipe and staring through the ceiling into oblivion. She was so deep in stupor that if I had not known better, I would have thought it drug-induced torpor."

Which is adapted from Watson's POV in a Study in Scarlet.

I have manic depression, I am familiar with this kind of laziness. It's not so much laziness for me as it is almost paralization. When I'm in a 'down' mood, I can just lie there staring at the wall for hours. If the house caught fire I wouldn't move. I can't really say what I think of, I just think. And it's tiring, too, it's not at all like resting. I get worn out from lying there. I have laid on the floor, the bed, out in the garden. Man, give me hot coals, I'll lie on those too. Very few things I know can break this irresistable urge to turn into a space cadet. Often I pop pills. I've been addicted to tranquilizers for the better part of 5 years and they're nice bedfellows. I can very strongly identify with Holmes', and Spinoza's idea of mental activity being the saving grace of existence.

Thank you so much to these people for Stock used:

I've noticed that artists in general suffer from more emotional issues than the rest of society.

I'm not sure what manic depression is like, but whenever I've been in the dumps it's usually from a feeling that things will never change, that my situation is hopeless, that I'll always be this way, that something's wrong with me. But I have a secret weapon against death by self loathing.

The secret is this: I take small, winnable, baby steps.

Conquering a problem, no matter how small, is the opposite of hopelessness; it's evidence that I can change my situation for the better. That's why I stay away from drugs because I need my brain fully operational to find solutions whenever my well being is threatened, even if that threat is ME. It's important to protect those critical thinking skills. I can't stress that enough.

Not sure how it works for you. Just wanted to share what works for me. I first saw your work on Drunk Duck. Looks just as good on Deviantart, but I liked it better when you were drawing humans. Furries are not my thing.

And drawing is my cure for boredom.

Winnable baby steps are indeed the key to success.

I love her posture and the way her tail just hangs off the couch.

Yes. Yes. And no one would believe when I said that I am tired after having spend the whole day doing exactly just what Shylocks doing there. :/
