I love the line from the rock opera of Notre Dame de Paris, when Quasimodo confronts Frollo over Esmeralda at the gallows. [link]

And Disney Frollo certainly echoes the sentiment - Esmeralda must die for HIS sins. He would sacrifice her for his own sanity.
